Blepharoplasty
LOS ANGELES & BEVERLY HILLS
Revitalize your gaze with a Blepharoplasty Eyelid Lift by Dr. Ariel Ourian in Beverly Hills. This procedure delicately reshapes and rejuvenates the eye area, erasing signs of aging and fatigue, and restoring your youthful, vibrant look.
Who is a good candidate for Blepharoplasty?
Patients seeking eyelid surgery typically have one or more of the following concerns:
- Baggy or drooping upper eyelids
- Extra, sagging skin in the upper lids, affecting vision
- Drooping lower eyelids
- Extra, sagging skin on the lower eyelids
- Bags under the eyes
- Puffy lower eyelids
Most of our Los Angeles eyelid surgery patients are thirty years old or older. However, younger patients who wish to create a more symmetrical eye shape or otherwise change the appearance of their eyelids may also be candidates. Before undergoing a blepharoplasty, patients must be in good health overall and have no other eye conditions such as glaucoma or dry eye. After reviewing your general health, Dr. Ourian will determine whether you are a candidate for blepharoplasty.
How is Blepharoplasty Performed?
Dr. Ourian’s signature Los Angeles blepharoplasty procedure is performed local or general anesthesia. Depending on your specific concerns, incisions and changes will be made to either the upper eyelid, lower eyelid, or both (sometimes called double eyelid surgery).
Upper Eyelid Surgery
In upper eyelid surgery, or upper blepharoplasty, an incision is made along the natural crease of the upper eyelid. Through this incision, excess fat and tissue may be removed or repositioned, the muscles may be tightened, and excess skin can be removed. When these steps are complete, the incisions are closed with sutures.
Lower Eyelid Surgery
In lower eyelid surgery or lower blepharoplasty, incisions are made just below the lower lash line, through which excess skin or fat can be removed. Alternatively, incisions on the inside of the lower eyelid (known as transconjunctival incisions) may be made to achieve this effect, although skin is not removed using this technique. When these steps are complete, the incisions are closed with sutures.
What is Blepharoplasty Recovery Like?
As with other procedures, you should arrange for a trusted caregiver, such as a friend or family member, to drive you home and care for you after the surgery. Following your blepharoplasty, you can expect some swelling, bruising, and dry eyes. Lubricating ointment and cold compresses will be used to help ease discomfort during the initial stages of the recovery process. Dr. Ourian will also prescribe pain medication. It is also important that you properly protect your eyes by keeping them lubricated during the first few days after surgery. Most patients can return to work and other normal activities within 3 to 7 days after their blepharoplasty. However, residual swelling can last for several weeks after surgery. Be sure to follow all of Dr. Ourian’s directions carefully to ensure your safety and proper healing. Dr. Ourian will monitor your healing through postoperative appointments and tell you when you may return to your regular routine, including exercise and other strenuous activity.
How Much Does Blepharoplasty in Beverly Hills Cost?
The cost of your blepharoplasty in Los Angeles depends on many factors, including the extent of your surgery (including whether you are making changes to the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both) as well as your surgeon’s expertise and the geographic location where your procedure was performed. Dr. Ourian’s patient concierge will give you a more specific cost for your surgery after a thorough consultation.
